Where to Stay

map of Palermo & Recoleta

The 2 neighbourhoods in Buenos Aires that we would recommend for your stay are:

  1. Palermo (Soho/Hollywood)
  2. Recoleta

Palermo is “hipper” with a lot of restaurants, bars, and nightlife to choose from, while Recoleta is a bit more old-school & family oriented with parks, tourist attractions, shopping, and cafes. The 2 neighbourhoods are about a 40min walk or 10min taxi ride away from each other. We will be staying in Recoleta.

Things to do

Argentina

  1. Iguazú Falls : where Mother Nature goes all-in with her waterworks display. A Unesco World Heritage site.
  2. Patagonia Glaciers : where the ice is colder than your ex’s heart, but the views are even more breathtaking! Head down to El Calafate and hike up to view some of South America’s largest glaciers.
  3. Mendoza : “Wine is bottled poetry.” Sip your way through endless vineyards, surrounded by the stunning backdrop of the Andes mountains. You’ll leave with a “spirited” appreciation for life, and maybe a wine stain or two on your shirt.
  4. Bariloche / San Martin de Los Andes : the land of chocolate dreams and mountainous ice cream! Beautiful mountains in the picturesque south of Argentina - hiking, biking, watersports, or just cozy walks during the beginning of Autumn.
  5. Quebrada de Humahuaca : explore colorful adobe villages, follow ancient Inca trails, and bask in the stunning desert landscape that looks like it was painted by a team of artistic llamas. A Unesco World Heritage site.

Buenos Aires

  1. Cementerio de la Recoleta : where the “dead” lead the “living” in terms of style and sophistication. Roam among ornate mausoleums, and don’t be surprised if you stumble upon the final resting place of Argentina’s most legendary figures.

  2. Centro Cultural Recoleta : right next to the cementerio you will find a colourful building where art, culture, and creativity collide in a vibrant explosion of fun. Dive into a world of contemporary exhibitions, live performances, and interactive installations that will ignite your imagination. Free to enter, and a great place to take an afternoon nap.

  3. La Boca/Caminito : walk through the vibrant streets of La Boca, where the buildings are a riot of colors, and then, catch a tour (or maybe a game) at the famous Bombonera stadium (home of Boca Jrs). Legend has it that Boca Jrs original jersey 100yrs ago was too similar to one of their rivals, and the resulting game would decide who gets to keep the colors. Boca lost and decided to adopt the colours of the first boat to sail into the port of La Boca. That ship ended up being Swedish, and henceforth they adopted the iconic blue/yellow colours.

  4. Museums: explore the various museums that BA has to offer. MALBA is a modern art gem with works from Latin American greats, while Bellas Artes is a historical treasure trove showcasing masterpieces from around the world.

  5. Teatro Colon : where the performers take a bow, and so does the architecture. Experience the magic of this world-renowned opera house, where the acoustics are as impressive as the gilded decor.

  6. San Telmo market : where treasure hunting is a Sunday tradition. Lose yourself in a labyrinth of stalls, from antique trinkets to vibrant crafts, mouthwatering street food, and maybe even a tango lesson or two.

  7. Tango : where you can watch the dance of love, jealousy, and passion unfold before your eyes. These performances are like a symphony of emotions, and you’ll leave feeling like you’ve just experienced the world’s most dramatic soap opera in the best way possible.

  8. Restaurants

  9. Bars
